I have had a blog with blogger.com for a while now but i want to host it and control everything my self so i have hosting and a domain and i installed wordpress. is there a way to custimize the lay out i mean i wanted to control everything so i can ad ads and pictures and a layout of my choosing not one that is already set up

You do not have to use wordpress. If it does not have the functions you need, for example changing everything, just try working without it. It would not be much easier, but not much harder.
