Moving web host, help?

I am unhappy with my current host and would like to move to another host.

I purchased my domain name through them when I took up there hosting plan, and would like to keep it but dont know how to when moving to a different host.

I cant seem to find the place that allows me to point the domain to a different server.

Can someone please help

These sorts of things vary with different hosting companies.

Your absolute easiest course of action is to ring your hosting company and ask them.

It is more difficult when the domain name was part of the hosting plan. Some hosting companies require that you stay connected for a set period of time (6 or 12 months) before they will release the name to you.

Next time buy your domain name separately from your hosting, then you own your name and can move it at will.

For example, buy your name through Godaddy and then point it to your host such as Hostgator or Blueshost.

As I said, ring your current host and ask.

you didnt mention the host.

you shoud have two access

1. domain control panel access

2. Hosting Control panel access

from domain control panel you need to change the name server to change your new host.

the new host shoud have all the files transffered from old hosting including database, files.
