i know why i need a host and domain name but what is a server and why do i need that?? please a bit of help, thankyou

A server is a %26#039;big%26#039; computer (or series of them) that can store masses of information. Once your web is designed, its of no use if people can%26#039;t access it 24/7. Unless your willing to set up a home-based server, you need to have somewhere where your web can be %26#039;hung%26#039; so that people can view it at any time. You also need security systems that will (hopefully) stop others hacking your web and messing it up, as well as an e-mail (POP) system for handling any web-based e-mails. Add to that other options such as web counters, data bases, etc. and that is what you need a server for. Hope this helps.
